Great point about bottom-up adoption becoming more powerful than top-down implementation. I've read a few articles recently that point to a lack of enterprise adoption as supporting evidence for generative AI's failure to produce any real economic value. Clearly, the writers are missing this perspective (among others).

I like the term "Shadow AI" a lot. Thanks for conjuring it up.

My feeling about Chinese tech workers using AI in secrecy reflects how Chinese tech companies and their culture generally discourage "super individuals"—those 1000x or 100x developers who also function as influencers capable of steering project directions. The intense pressure for output and conformity has made AI assistance a necessity. It's similar to the Haidian after-school tutoring programs that many children attend—if you don't use it, you fall behind. In this environment, AI tools have become the silent equalizer that many rely on but few openly acknowledge.
